Way to bring shame to the Alpha Phi Alpha name!

We’re both disturbed and disappointed to report that of ’s Alpha Phi Alpha chapter has been temporarily as a result of a “serious physical incident.”

Here’s what school spokeswoman Janine Sikes had to say about it in a statement:

“We believe the incident took place several weeks prior. The hazing incident is currently under investigation with the University of Florida police.”

And here’s more from the UF’s vice president for student affairs Dave Kratzer:

“This was not a case that we know of that anyone went to the hospital — thank goodness.”

“It’s not in the realm of seriousness on the far end of things, when you think about what could have occurred with hazing, and we want to stop it now.”

And here’s what UF President Bernie Machen had to say about it in an e-mail to students:

“As that investigation proceeds, I want to reinforce the university’s prohibition against all forms of hazing — and ask each of you to help us guard against this dangerous and destructive behavior.”

“Hazing is specifically prohibited by UF regulations, and it is also classified as a crime in Florida. We cannot tolerate hazing on our campus or in our university community, and anyone found responsible will face the gravest possible consequences, including expulsion and criminal penalties.”

Hopefully the responsible members will be properly punished for their actions. This kind of behavior is dangerous and ALL schools and fraternities should have a strictly enforced zero tolerance policy for hazing!

What do U think? How harshly should the fraternity be punished for this incident???
