A big congratulazioni are in order for Franca Sozzani!
The Vogue Italia has been appointed as the United Nations‘ first ever Goodwill ambassador!
Sozzani will be responsible for the two-year platform, Millennium Development‘s Fashion 4 Development program, which is geared toward encouraging fashion’s biggest players to work on sustainable development projects.
The program’s co-founder and global chair, Evie Evangelo, divvied out deets about what they want to accomplish:
“[Fashion 4 Development aims toward] increase economic levels, decrease poverty and hunger, and help empower women in these countries.”
On Thursday, Franca is expected to attend a roundtable discussion at the U.N.’s Manhattan headquarters with top designers, retailers, and U.N. officials sitting in as well.
Fashion 4 Development sounds nifty! Let’s hope a lot of fashion goodness comes out of this arrangement.
