As part of her new role, the former editor-in-chief of the Conde Nast-owned Vogue Paris will collaborate with the mag’s creative director Stephen Gan on various stories for Bazaar‘s 26 international publications.
Duncan Edwards, president and CEO of Heart Magazines International, said of the exciting news:
“This collaboration marks the first time anything like this has been done and we’re very excited about what Carine will bring to Bazaar editions around the world. She is a visionary in the fashion world and we are so happy to be working with her.”
While David Carey, president of Hearst Magazines, added:
“Carine is one of the fashion world’s most influential tastemakers and we look forward to seeing what she does with Bazaar. Her contributions will help lead the company to new heights on the creative front.”
Of course, no one is more excited about the job than Carine herself, who said:
“I am thrilled to be contributing to Bazaar, a brand with a rich history of creativity. Working with Stephen and a roster of talented photographers will be a wonderful collaboration and one that will give these stories a truly global audience.”
We’ll get our first taste of Carine and Stephen’s collab starting in March 2013.
Carine Roitfeld recently shared a little piece of her life with Harper’s Bazaar, but we were not expecting her to tell the mag that she didn’t think highly of looks.
The former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris and now editor of her own fashion mag, CR Fashion Book shared how she felt about her appearance:
“I’m not bad-looking, but I’m not a beauty either. I think I have character, and that is what people like in me.”
Miz Roitfeld was shot by Karl Lagerfeld for the magazine, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he was talking smack about her.
At least Carine has her bod to back her up because according to her, she’s “always been skinny:”
“I don’t eat a lot, to be honest — never. I’m a bit like a little bird, picking all day long, but I’m not getting pasta or getting all those things, you know? So I think it’s my morphology.”
We think she’s uniquely beautiful and that’s really all that matters!
But it’s not like the editor is a total mess anyway.
Carine Roitfeld hosted the first ever full-scale fashion show at the amfAR Gala on Thursday where models like Kate Upton, Lindsay Wixson and Karolina Kurkova strut their stuff in designer gowns by Roberto Cavalli, Chanel and Versace.
For a fashion show that laced color, it sure was jazzy!
CarineRoitfeld is collaborating with MAC cosmetics for a limited edition line of makeup to come out this fall to coincide with the launch of her new fashion magazine CR Fashion Book. Focusing on strong brows and eyes and nude lips, the collection will help you achieve the look the sultry french editrix is known for.
The ad campaign, shown above, was shot by Mario Testino.
In her latestadventure, CarineRoitfeldattends the Haute Couture shows in Paris acting as a client for W magazine. This behind the scenes video instills feelings of jealousy as you watch her attend the shows, chat with designers and celebrities, and visit the ateliers to get fitted in the fresh off the runway looks for her photo shoot, which you can see the results of here.
