Race is an issue that this needs to be talked about, and MTV is trying to get the conversation started.
This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, for the first time in the network’s history, they’ll be airing all of their programs in black and white from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The goal is jar audiences enough that they’ll begin having, what MTV is calling “The Talk – candid, confident and ‘color brave’ conversations on race and bias.” It’s all a part of their Look Different anti-bias campaign.
Throughout the day, monologues from people like Kendrick Lamar, Common, Big Sean, Ava DuVernay, David Oyelowo, Penn Badgley, Jordin Sparks, Pete Wentz, Sen. Rand Paul, Rep. John Lewis, and Sen. Cory Booker will air, to help get people to discuss our differences.
We have a first look at Penn Badgley’s clip for you (above)!
MTV’s President, Stephen Freeman, talked about this, saying:
“Millennials believe strongly in fairness, but they can also find it difficult to talk openly about race – to be not simply ‘color blind’ but ‘color brave.’ Our audience is looking for a way to bring the national conversation on race into their homes and this campaign will give them a forum to express true color bravery.”
We think this is a fantastic idea, because the key to tolerance is educating ourselves and learning to celebrate our differences!
We wonder if he’s stalling on making these introductions!
Jennifer Lawrenceand Chris Martin‘s relationship is still going strong apparently, but it may not yet be strong enough to handle the awkwardness that would most likely arise if Chris introduced Jen to his babies’ momma.
Although it makes sense that Gwyneth and Chris don’t want or need any help with the parenting job they’re doing, it does seem strange that Chris wouldn’t make any introductions at all.
Especially since we’re guessing the singer spends quite a lot of time with each of these two ladies!
We’d be curious to see if Jennifer Lawrence starts to feel a certain type of way from this lack of introducing on Chris Martin’s part sometime in the future. She could feel like he may not feel their relationship is serious enough to warrant an introduction, and that would make a lot of partners in relationships mad, as well.
Chris Martin better suck it up and nip this thing in the bud before he loses TWO fair haired hotties!
