Calvin Klein Resort 2013 looked equal parts jetset and city…

2013 and staycation, with a soft neutrals color palette and some of my favorite shoes so far this . Fransisco Costa showed calf-length and hip-length tunics (for lack of a better descriptor) paired with cropped cigarette trousers which seem to be the preferred pant of the season. There was lots of white and grey, punctuated by a soft mimosa yellow and silvery medium green. The clothes had just the slightest 1970’s feel to them but were far more minimalist than anything actually from that era. The platform peep toe shoes made an excellent accessory statement when paired with the narrow silhouettes. -RS (Images via Stylesight)

for 2013 is a display of dressing with only the tiniest hint of “resort” per se. The latter comes in the form of a blown-up giraffe print in black and white that looks more Michael Kors than Lam but is attractive nonetheless. A powder blue cropped jacket with safari pockets at the chest was a standout, as was a sleeveless crimson shirtdress, its full skirt and nipped waist tailored perfectly. The last few looks in the collection moved away from rigid silhouettes into softly draped blouson with asymmetrically placed front closures. 2013 is so far the of the I’ve seen thus far. Inspired by the British affinity for certain flowers (hydrangea,roses, chrysanthemums), artist Jeff Koons and photographer Nick Knight, the collection featured bright abstracted floral patterns splashed across perfectly fitted . There were some good narrow trousers and tailored jackets to be sure, but the frocks stole the show. For the client who might not so much focus on florals or prints showed a wonderful peplum top with lean red floaty trousers (or is it a skirt? can’t quite tell from the photo) and what is now a signature item of theirs- the embellished inset mesh top. 2013 is a mix of in sweet as vanilla and berry, punctuated by some strong silhouettes of skinny trousers and poncho tops done in graphic aztec-style patterns. A hand drawn style floral engineered on a few pieces was quite nice and had a touch of vintage femme while keeping it fresh. While a hot pink ensemble of poncho and slouchy leggings may sound like a bad idea, I won’t deny it fine on the model! Well done Ms Temperley! -RS (Images via WWD)
