Now former Secretary of State Colin Powell has revealed on live television that he has “no problem with it.”
When asked about the hot topic on CNN, Powell responded:
“As I’ve thought about gay marriage, I know a lot of friends who are individually gay but are in partnerships with loved ones, and they are as stable a family as my family is, and they raise children. And so I don’t see any reason not to say that they should be able to get married.”
BOO YAH!
And this is coming from a guy who supported the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, so we KNOW the world’s view of same-sex marriage, and the LGBT community in general, is progressing in a positive direction.
Check out Wolf Blitzer’s interview (above) with the retired four-star general to hear the wonderful words come out of his mouth for yourself!
We can only hope more lawmakers and government officials at ALL levels are inspired to voice their support too. We seriously don’t understand the big deal here. Marriage equality isn’t that much to ask for in this day and age.
Fortunately, if Americans like Biden, Obama, and Powell continue to open their minds and hearts to the LGBT community, we won’t have to keep asking for it for too much longer.
