Flashback Friday: The Rebecca Black Edition! She Reflects On Her Unexpected Hit Friday Almost 4 Years Later!!

You know what we love about today? It’s Friday!

Friday! Gotta get down on Friday!

Why? Cause everyone’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend?

NO.

Well, yeah, probably, but also because it’s Friday!!

Today, we’re flashing all the way back to four years ago, when 13-year-old Black released her viral “hit” Friday.

Black, now 17, has come a long way since her original video rocketed her to internet infamy. She said:

“It wasn’t really the kind of attention any 13-year-old girl wants. I made the song with no intention of it doing anything, and here it was doing something.”

Yeah, we can imagine that must’ve been a very confusing and intense time in her life.

Thankfully for her, she’s got a sense of humor and not only embraced her sudden fame, she capitalized on it.

Now? She’s got plans for a future in music (and college too)! She said:

“I’ve been in the studio working on different songs. It’s definitely nothing like ‘Friday’ or anything I’ve put out in the past. It’s definitely pop, but I wouldn’t call it bubblegum pop. We’re really grasping all different inspirations. There’s a little alternative influence, but at the same time, some of that really cool new alternative R&B. We’re in a super experimental phase right now, just seeing what works best.”

Wow! That’s fantastic! We love that she’s growing as an artist!

So ready to flashback to Friday??

Then check out the video (below) and sing along at the top of your lungs!!
